About Dr. Huiwen Liu
Dr. Liu brings twenty-seven years of experience in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, along with a dozen published professional articles. Her clinical focus has included pain, depression and anxiety, digestive disorders, diabetes, hypertension, women’s health (including infertility, dysmenorrhea, and menopause), post-stroke sequelae, and weight control — a breadth that reflects both rigor and long patient relationships.
Education, experience & training
- Doctor of Medicine, Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (1992)
- Master’s degree in Combined Eastern and Western Medicine, Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (1997) — widely regarded among the world’s leading institutions in traditional Chinese medicine
- Physician at China-Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing, treating patients in the Department of TCM Cardiology and International Medicine
- Research associate at the Diabetes Research Center of the University of Southern California
- Board-Certified Diplomate in Acupuncture, National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)
- Certified in Clean Needle Technique by the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM)
- State-licensed acupuncturist in Virginia and California; currently practicing acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in Virginia
